Chicago is in for a major warm-up later this week—but don’t grab your bathing suit just yet, stormy weather is on the way.
Friday’s high will reach 75 degrees, according to the National Weather Service, nearing the record of 79 degrees for March 28, set in 1986.
While the unseasonably warm temperatures are a pleasant surprise, they come with a catch—a chance of thunderstorms throughout the day. The NWS forecasts a 50% chance of storms before 10 a.m. Friday, with additional showers possible late into the evening.
Rainy conditions will linger through the weekend, with showers likely Saturday and Sunday. And as quickly as temperatures rise, they’ll drop again—by Monday, Chicagoans can expect a high of just 43 degrees.
