Chicagoans woke up to a pleasant surprise Monday morning as fall-like temperatures arrived in the Windy City.
The unexpectedly crips air follows weeks of record-pushing heat and oppressive humidity. But will the comfortable conditions stick around? Here’s what to expect.
Breaking down this week’s forecast

Daily highs will remain just below average for much of this week, according to data from the National Weather Service (NWS).
Tuesday’s high will reach a comfortable 71 degrees, followed by a slight spike on Wednesday for a high of 76 and plenty of sunshine.
The NWS predicts a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms come Thursday, with a high of 72 degrees. Friday will really feel like fall, with a high of just 67 degrees and clear skies.
Labor Day weekend will see highs in the low seventies and partly sunny conditions.
Long story short, its shaping up to be a week of near-picture-perfect weather in Chicago—be sure to get out and enjoy it!
