Winter is off to an early start in Chicago, but temperatures will soon return to more seasonable levels after weeks of snowfall and single-digit highs.
Here’s a look at this week’s forecast and how long the warmer weather will last!
Cold start to the week, temps in the 40s Wednesday and Thursday

Temps will start out cold in Chicago this week, but the thermometer will slowly climb as we get closer to the weekend, according to predictions from the National Weather Service.
Monday’s high will top out at just 24 degrees, followed by an overnight low of 20 degrees. Temperatures will finally pass the freezing mark on Tuesday for a high of 37 degrees and plenty of sunshine.
Wednesday will see a high of 39 degrees, with the chance of rain come nighttime.

Thursday is when temps will really take a turn for the warmer with a high of 46 degrees.
Don’t break out the beach blanket though—a rainy snowy mix will linger throughout the day, with an 80% chance of precipitation overall.
Highs in the 30s and 40s this weekend

Daily highs will hover just above the freezing mark for much of the weekend. Thursday’s overnight low will plunge to just 15 degrees followed by a high of 31 on Friday.
Saturday’s high will top out at 42 degrees, before dropping down to a high of 35 on Sunday.
All in all, temps in Chicago will be feeling more on par for mid-December this week. But is our next arctic blast just around the corner? Check back here for more winter weather updates!
