American Airlines is launching direct service from Chicago to Tokyo, Japan beginning next year.
Here’s everything to know and how soon you can plan the trip of a lifetime.
Chicago to Tokyo nonstop service

American Airlines will begin offering nonstop service from O’Hare International Airport to Tokyo Narita International Airport on March 27, 2027.
The new connection comes in partnership with Japan Airlines, and marks the 11th longest American Airlines route from O’Hare.
“Chicago is proud to celebrate American’s new flight to Tokyo-Narita,” said Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson.
“We look forward to welcoming more visitors from Japan to experience all that Chicago has to offer and to sharing in the richness of Japanese culture, while offering Chicagoans a new direct connection to explore Japan firsthand.

Tickets will be available through the American Airlines site at a future date.
