Three Chicago suburbs are among the safest and wealthiest in the US, according to a recent study from personal finance site GOBankingRates.
The study identified 1,000 national cities with the highest household mean income through the U.S. Census American Community Survey.
From there, GOBankingRates narrowed the list down to the top 50 safest and richest cities overall. Of the selected cities, three Chicago suburbs ranked in the top 10.
Here’s which towns made the list.
Western Springs

Western Springs claimed the #1 spot on the list. The southwest suburb boasts a mean household income $294,896 and a violent crime rate of just 0.076 per 1,000 people.
Additionally, the average Western Springs home value sits at $837,238 compared to a cost of living of $84,810.
Winnetka

Coming in at #7 on the list is the north shore suburb of Winnetka. The lakeside town has a mean household income of $457,404 and an average single family home value of $1,803,555.
Winnetka boasts a violent crime rate of only 0.164 per 1,000 people, and a property crime rate of 6.144 per 1,000.
Kenilworth

Just behind Winnetka at the #8 spot is the adjacent suburb of Kenilworth. The north shore village has a median household income of $239,838 and an average single family home value of $695,938.
Kenilworth maintains a violent crime rate of just 0.424 per 1,000 people and a property crime rate of 16.532 per 1,000.
