Chicago’s favorite hot dog chain is to open its third city store in November!
November 2nd, 2020 will see a brand new Portillo’s opening in Chicago city, and luckily for Northwest siders, it’ll open in the heart of Avondale. The much-loved restaurant chain has come a long way since Dick Portillo started selling hotdogs out of a trailer in Villa Park back in 1963. The newest store on 3343 W Addison St will be the 60th Portillo store in the country with branches ranging from California to Florida.
It’s the third store in Chicago city and has been two years in the works, with the two others found in South Loop and River North. Northern-based Chicago residents can soon say good riddance to the tiring pilgrimage needed to get their hands on the treasured Chicago-style hot dogs. Cake shakes, Italian beef sandwiches, char-grilled burgers, and all of Portillo’s classics will be available in a spic-and-span new spot in Avondale as of 10:30 am on November 2.

The grand opening will be a moment to relish with local artist giveaways up for grabs. T-shirts designed by local designer Ryan Duggan will be given out as well as 100 limited-edition pins for the first 100 guests that arrive on opening day. To ensure the safety of customers and team members Portillo’s will be operating in accordance with COVID-19 regulations and will initially open for drive-thru and delivery only. Orders can be made online and the restaurant premises will open to guests at a later date.
