The upcoming forecast in Chicago may complicate your Labor Day weekend plans. While air temperatures dropped significantly last week, and it seemed like fall was imminent, this week is bringing excessive heat and dangerous high humidity to the Chicago area.
The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for the entire Chicago area starting at 12 p.m. on Monday, with Cook County under an excessive heat warning. Excessive heat watches will be in effect on Tuesday. The heat index in Cook County is expected to range between 103 and 107 on Monday and around 110 on Tuesday.
The NWS said:
Extreme heat and humidity will significantly increase the potential for heat-related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities. Be prepared to drink lots of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
The NWS noted that this is the hottest air Chicago has experienced so far this summer.
