The Hard Rock Cafe Chicago is closing its doors after nearly 40 years in River North, according to multiple reports.
Perhaps best known for its iconic neon guitar sign, the restaurant has been a fixture at the corner of Ontario and Clark streets since it first open in 1986.
A spokesperson of Hard Rock International confirmed the closure in a statement obtained by Block Club Chicago.
“Hard Rock has enjoyed serving the Windy City community for nearly 40 years and playing a role in the city’s celebrated dining culture.”
“We are so grateful to our incredible team members, community partners and fans for their support and memories all this time,” said a company spokesperson in the statement.
The closure marks an end of era for downtown dining in Chicago, mirroring a trend which has impacted other big chain restaurants in recent years.
Just next door, the Rainforest Cafe and its beloved Green Frog bid the Windy City farewell in 2020.
