Severe weather is forecasted for the Chicago area today, Wednesday, June 17, with a risk of large tornadoes.
According to ABC7 Chicago, the Storm Prediction Center has designated areas south of Chicago—specifically Kankakee County in Illinois and Newton and Jasper counties in northwest Indiana—as having a Level 4 risk for severe weather today.
The South Side of Chicago and the southern suburbs are under a Level 3 risk for severe weather, while the North Side and northern suburbs are under a Level 2 risk.
A line of showers and storms is expected to move through the area from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. By noon, some areas may receive as much as two inches of rain.
If you’re planning to go outside today, you might want to reconsider. The entire Chicago area is under a Flood Watch until 9 p.m. today.
