The world lost a generational icon earlier this week, with the passing of country singer and cultural figure Dolly Parton.
Now, Chicago-area AMC Theatres are paying tribute to the late star with limited-time screenings of her classic films.

Steel Magnolias and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas at Chicago AMC theaters
Multiple Chicago-area AMC Theaters will screen Dolly Parton’s two movies, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (1982) and Steel Magnolias (1989) from August 28 through September 2.
“Celebrate the life and legacy of the legendary Dolly Parton with two classic films returning to AMC Theatres at discounted prices,” said AMC in an Instagram post.
Participating Chicago AMC Theatres include:
- AMC Block 37
- AMC River East
- AMC North Michigan Ave.
- AMC Roosevelt Collection 16
- AMC New City 14
Several suburban theaters will also screen both films, including locations in Naperville, Skokie, and others.
