Buc-ee’s may not be new to you if you frequently travel down south. The Texas-based mega train center chain holds numerous records, including the world’s largest convenience store and the world’s longest car cash.
However, people in the Midwest often experience FOMO every time they see iconic Buc-ee’s billboards along Chicago-area expressways. The billboards indicate the distance to the nearest location of this popular convenience store and gas station—and it’s usually extremely far.
Currently, the closest Buc-ee’s to Chicago is approximately 400 miles away, near Bowling Green, Kentucky.
That is about to change. According to NBC Chicago, if all goes as planned, that distance will be significantly reduced to less than 100 miles.
Buc-ee’s coming to Milwaukee
The Plan Commission in the city of Oak Creek, Wisconsin, approved a proposal for a mega travel center and gas station along Interstate 94, south of Milwaukee.
The convenience store would be approximately 73,000 square feet, featuring 120 gas pumps and electric vehicle charging stations.
