The Brookfield Zoo has some big developments in store this summer—the zoo just welcomed a baby Spider Monkey and is preparing to unveil a sprawling new primate exhibit this month!
Introducing Bramsen Tropical Forests
The Brookfield Zoo will officially open its latest habitat James & Elizabeth Bramsen Tropical Forests on Friday, July 11. The massive outdoor facility spans 3 acres and four rainforest environments, allowing gorillas, orangutans, and monkeys to roam freely within.
Guests will enjoy an immersive walk-through experience, uncovering the magic of primates and learning about steps they can take to aid conservation efforts.

“The James & Elizabeth Bramsen Tropical Forests represents a bold step forward in how we connect people to wildlife,” said Dr. Mike Adkesson, president and CEO of Brookfield Zoo Chicago.
“This extraordinary space not only provides an incredibly dynamic and enriching environment for the animals in our care but also inspires guests to understand and protect some of the most endangered species on the planet.”
Meet the zoo’s newest monkey

The adorable baby monkey was born to mother Gizmo as part of Brookfield Zoo’s Species Survival Plan, according to a release. Since making his zoo debut, the infant male primate as reportedly adjusted well to his surroundings, demonstrating speed and agility.
Zoogoers will have the chance to visit the monkey at the Tropical World exhibit beginning next week, when the habitat reopens alongside the Tropical Forests debut.
