Corner stores, known as Bodegas in New York, have started gaining popularity in Chicago (with a customized twist) as spaces like River North’s La Bodega del Barrio, or the popular Phodega in Wicker Park gather acclaim in the city.
Now there’s a new Bodega in town and it’s specializing in tequila and tacos. Bodega Taqueria y Tequila has finally landed in the West Loop, bringing delicious menu items ranging from classic tacos to cheesy quesadillas, to delicious margaritas, Palomas, and more to the area.
With plans for a River North location (said to open this summer at 407 N. Clark Street) the new West Loop hot spot comes directly from its original South Florida location, bringing classics like Margarita Monday and Taco Tuesday to Chicago.
While there are ample taco options lining Randolph Street (Ranging from Federales to a casual Taco Bell) Bodega Taqueria y Tequila, in particular, brings a relaxed vibe composed of a front ‘shack’ where customers can pick up fast, delicious eats and a speakeasy-style lounge in the back filled with high-quality drink options in a swanky setting.
Whether you choose to stop by the front-facing Airstream trailer (located inside a casual brick-lined space) for a quick bite to eat or make reservations for the decked-out lounge in the back, Chicago’s new Bodega is sure to please.
