As if Chicago didn’t already have plenty of options for coffee, we’re about to welcome an entirely new spot: Blank Street Coffee. The viral coffee chain based in New York is officially coming to Wicker Park—though the timeline for its opening is still uncertain.
Viral Brooklyn-born chain Blank Street Coffee is opening a Wicker Park location
Founded in Brooklyn in 2020, Blank Street Coffee has rapidly expanded to include dozens of locations on the East Coast and in the United Kingdom. This summer, Axios reported that the company raised over $100 million in venture capital funding.
According to Crain’s, the chain will occupy a prominent storefront at 1588 N. Milwaukee Ave., overlooking the North/Damen/Milwaukee intersection. This space was previously occupied by Starbucks, which closed this location along with about 20 others in Chicago last September.
With all this news, one thing is for sure: you might just find a new favorite matcha drink.
