The fastest-growing sport in the nation is fast becoming even more accessible in the Windy City. Big City Pickle, which has locations on Goose Island and Gold Coast, has now opened another set of courts in the heart of Fulton Market.
With 9 courts to start the temporary pop-up will offer Pickleball on a vacant lot at the corner of Green and Lake Street from 11 am until 10 pm daily.
The aim is to expand to 40 courts by spring and to enclose some of the courts in time for winter so that the courts can be enjoyed whatever the weather.
The new location in Fulton Market will also serve cocktails on-site like the Goose Island Big City Pickle and plans to bring caterers and food trucks for special events and private parties.
Located near the Green Line it is now one of the best-located pickleball complexes in the entire city. Paddles and balls can be rented on-site and walk-up bookings are allowed but it is recommended reserving courts ahead of time via chicagocitypickle.com/fulton-market.
Court rentals are $35 an hour or individuals can register for Doubles Pickup Games at $12 for recreational, intermediate, and competitive levels. If you’re a first-timer Learn To Play sessions cost $15 an hour while Weekly Mini-Tournaments offer well-organized, 2-hour sessions where players play 5-6 different opponents in a round robin format.
In all cases, guests can rent paddles and balls on-site.
Courts can be booked at all Big City Pickle locations at chicagocitypickle.com or by calling 312-850-8177.
