1. See the fireworks at Navy Pier

Celebrate the 4th of July weekend this Saturday, July 1st starting at 9 pm, see live firework displays light up the sky in what’s sure to be a dazzling start to the holiday weekend.
There are fireworks at Navy Pier all summer, starting at 9 PM every Wednesday and 10 PM on Saturdays, but the 4th of July is a special occasion and calls for even more fanfare. Head to the Navy Pier and spend the 4th Of July in Chicago watching a special fireworks display.

2. Enjoy a stunning sunset cruise down the Chicago River
Taking place on Sunday, July 2nd, make the most of the Independence Day weekend as you cruise down the Chicago River in style– on a decked-out boat with all your friends of course. Don’t forget to take in the optimal view as a DJ plays the best Top 40 hits. Enjoy endless drinks and plenty of fun on this 21+ booze cruise. 3. Head to Itasca for the largest fireworks display
Apparently, the village of Itasca puts on a large fireworks display during the holiday.
While it is an hour outside of Chicago, located in DuPage County, this year’s 4th of July show is a full 25 minutes of pyrotechnics! With performances by cover band Maggie Speaks All-Stars, and beer served by Church Street Brewing, the neighboring party will surely sparkle.
The actual fireworks start at 9:45 pm, but starting at 4 pm, head to the Hamilton Lakes Office Campus for a pre-celebration picnic.

4. See fireworks and a Sox game at Guaranteed Rate Field
There’s nothing more patriotic than baseball on the 4th of July! Head on over to the White Sox game on Tuesday, July 4th as they play the Toronto Blue Jays at 7:10p m. With a stunning firework display following the game, this baseball game is sure to be one for the books!

5. Head to any of the fabulous rooftop restaurants
Chicago doesn’t play around when it comes to rooftop options! While summer generally brings about nice weather, why not spend it on a lovely rooftop with friends?
A rooftop is kind of the perfect vantage point! It’s away from the hullabaloo of the crowds, often provides delicious drinks and food options, and at times offers holiday deals! Secure a spot at a rooftop bar downtown and watch the firework displays all around.
Whether you head over to West Loop for Recess’s gigantic patio bar or Navy Pier’s probably crowded new rooftop bar, Offshore, the options are seemingly endless.

7. Watch the sky show from DuSable Harbor
Regardless of your boat status, the fun atmosphere at DuSable Harbor is a top-tier spot for firework viewing! Grab lawn chairs and set up shop along the Lakefront Trail right by the harbor for an exceptional view away from the hustle and bustle of the pier.
