One of the largest free outdoor drive-through holiday light displays in Illinois.
Aurora’s free dazzling drive-through Festival of Lights has returned for its 15th year. The free event, taking place at Phillips Park in Aurora, kicks off on Friday, November 26, and will run for one month through December 26.
As a place that shares a name with the most spectacular natural lights show on the planet, Aurora’s very own lights show promises a stunning display for both adults and children alike – and the best part? It’s completely free.
Presented in partnership between the Rotary Club of Aurora and the City of Aurora, this signature winter event is a drive-through of more than one mile of spectacular lighted displays including bears, penguins, reindeer, helicopters, shimmering elves, holiday trains, enormous snowflakes, Santa’s Toy Factory and more.
Members of The Rotary Club of Aurora, a 98-year-old service club, conceived and executed the first City of Lights event in Aurora in 2007 and the event has blossomed ever since. Last year over 50,000 cars drove through and this year the signature annual festival is expecting even more.
The light show begins the day after Thanksgiving on Friday, November 26, and will run through December 26 Sundays through Saturdays from 5 – 9 pm. Due to the demand last year, a reserved time slot is required to enter the Festival of Lights. All sized cars are welcome and even buses can enjoy the event as the vehicle clearance is 13 feet, 6 inches.
