One of the largest free outdoor drive-through holiday light displays in Illinois.
Aurora’s dazzling annual drive-through Festival of Lights has returned for its 14th year. The free event will begin in Illinois’ “City of Lights” on Friday, November 27, and will run for one month through December 27 at Phillips Park Zoo, 1000 Ray Moses Drive in Aurora. As a place that shares a name with the most spectacular natural lights show on the planet, Aurora’s very own lights show promises a stunning display for both adults and children alike.
Last year over 30,000 cars drove through and this year the signature annual festival is expecting even more. Thanks to a communal voluntary effort the array of sensational light displays are now up ready and waiting to mesmerize guests that venture through Phillips Park. Presented in partnership between the City of Aurora and the Rotary Club of Aurora, the event is one the largest free outdoor drive-through holiday light displays in Illinois.
The 2020 rendition will feature a few new scenes including an expanded Ice Rink where new dancing arcs can be discovered as well as bears, penguins, and a helicopter with rotating blades flown by numerous reindeer. These fantastic new additions are joined by the usual suspects of shimmering elves, enormous snowflakes, Santa’s Toy Factory, and much more.
The lights show will run Monday through Thursday from 5 – 9 pm and from 5 – 10 pm Friday through Sunday. All sized cars are welcome and even buses can enjoy the event as the vehicle clearance is 13 feet, 6 inches. Remember, admission is free, but donations are welcome and benefit local charities!
