Arrenello’s Pizza, a beloved establishment in Glenwood known for its signature sweet sauce pizza, has announced it will be closing its original location after more than five decades of serving the South Suburbs.
Opened in 1972 by Rich Matokar, Arrenello’s also has locations in Highland, Indiana, and Tinley Park. The business recently announced that May will be its final month operating in Glenwood. In place of the Glenwood location, Arrenello’s plans to open a new store in St. John, Indiana.

While the Highland and Tinley Park locations will remain open, Matokar addressed the decision to leave Glenwood, emphasizing safety concerns around that location in a strip mall on Glenwood Lansing Road.
According to the Chicago Tribune, the plan to open a St. John store has been in the works for some time, though the original plan was to close the Tinley Park location instead.
