Imagine listening to Gollum for 12 straight hours.
Actor, Andy Serkis, announced that he will read JRR Tolkien’s The Hobbit, or There and Back Again from start to finish to raise money for charity.
“While times are tough, I want to take you on one of the greatest fantasy adventures ever written, a 12 hour armchair marathon reading of ‘The Hobbit’ by yours truly – a journey across Middle Earth whilst raising money for two amazing charities which are doing extraordinary work right now to help those most in need – NHS Charities Together and Best Beginnings,” the actor wrote on his Instagram.
The English actor is known for his role of Gollum, FKA Smeagol, in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, and the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Serkis has also starred in Black Panther, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and The Planet of The Apes films.
The live stream will start bright and early at 5am CDT this Friday, May 8, and will go on for 12 hours (depending on how many times he has to use the bathroom).
A GoFundMe link will be available on the page, for listeners to donate to NHS Charities Together and Best Beginnings.
Tune in for an adventure to Middle Earth and back again!
