It appears that a Chicago suburb may soon receive a significant upgrade.
Major retailer Amazon has selected Orland Park for a new retail development.
According to NBC Chicago, the project’s narrative, included in Amazon’s special-use permit application, details plans for a 225,000-square-foot one-story retail building.

A new retail development could be coming to Orland Park
The development will feature 837 parking spaces and seven loading docks. The store is expected to offer a wide selection of products, including groceries and general merchandise, along with accessory services and possibly dining options for prepared food sold on-site.
Additionally, online shoppers will have the convenience of picking up their orders at this new location.
The 35-acre site targeted for the development is situated at the southwest corner of 159th Street and LaGrange Road in Orland Park and was previously home to Petey’s II restaurant.
Orland Park Mayor Jim Dodge said:
When a global retailer of this scale is considering investment in Orland Park, it sends a strong signal about the vitality of our community and the strategic importance of this corridor.
It demonstrates that Orland Park continues to be viewed as a premier destination for significant commercial investment.
The landscaping plan for the project aims to enhance both the site’s aesthetic appeal and functionality.
Officials highlighted that the substantial tax revenue generated by this proposed development could significantly benefit Orland Park, providing potential long-term financial support for municipal services and capital improvements, according to a release from the Village of Orland Park.
