While we’re only in March, we can’t help but feel excited about the upcoming outdoor concert season—imagining the breeze in our hair, swaying to the music, and being part of a crowd of hundreds belting out the same tune.
Chicago has plenty of outdoor concert venues, but there’s something special about leaving the stadium behind for a more natural setting—think of Woodstock, but in the Midwest.
That’s why Alpine Valley Music Theatre remains one of our favorite places.
The 37,000-person amphitheater is just a 1.5-hour drive from Chicago and has hosted renowned acts like Phish, Dead & Company, and Jimmy Buffett, often creating a festival-like atmosphere.
Nestled in rolling hills, it features a distinct natural bowl, vast lawn seating, a wooden pavilion, and a lively, historic tailgating scene. This year, the lineup is pretty extraordinary.
