If you live in River North near Huron and Dearborn Street, you may have experienced whiplash from the number of grocery stores that come and go.
First, it was Whole Foods, which then abandoned the storefront and moved a couple of blocks over to Chicago Avenue. Then came Dom’s Kitchen & Market, which didn’t open its doors before going bankrupt. But alas, we have a new grocery chain that will finally open.
ALDI, the Batavia-based discount supermarket retailer, is scheduled to open its newest store to the public at 8:20 a.m., with a grand opening celebration.
According to NBC Chicago, the first 100 customers will receive a gift bag filled with ALDI-exclusive products and a gift card as part of the ALDI Golden Ticket giveaway program.
The new location will offer exclusive brands, a weekly lineup of limited-time ALDI Finds, organic meats, fresh produce delivered daily, and food for every taste and lifestyle—all at an affordable price.
