With a series of high-profile concerts like Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Queen and a special anniversary show from Chance the Rapper coming to Chicago over the next few months, Chicago is the place to be to see your favorite musicians. As rock legends Aerosmith recently announced a Chicago show this fall, it only cements the very idea.
The legendary rock band recently broke the news that they’re going on a farewell tour with 20 stops nationwide.
To announce the tour, Aerosmith’s official site posted a “Breaking News” image with Peace Out! written, which is aptly also the name of the tour. News of the farewell tour briefly crashed the site with fans flocking to Twitter for more information.
“After 50 years, 10 world tours, and playing for over 100 million fans…It’s time for one last go!”
The Grammy-winning band is set to perform in Chicago this September with special guests The Black Crowes, stopping by the iconic United Center on September 15th.
Aerosmith has accrued countless accolades, awards, and more, including Disney’s Rock n Roller Coaster in Florida and Paris.
Aerosmith wrote on Instagram that the Peace Out tour will celebrate 5 decades of groundbreaking hits amongst America’s greatest rock band, and will be “calibrating each arena with leading-edge technology so fans don’t miss a beat of Aerosmith’s classic rock tunes in quality audio.”
Lead singer Steven Tyler said to The Associated Press, “We’re opening up Pandora’s Box one last time to present our fans with the Peace Out tour.”
This “Pandora’s Box” likely refers to the band’s 1991 3-disc compilation album covering music from the 1970s to the 1980s.
The United Center was in on the farewell tour news ahead of time, posting a sneaky video 3 days ago.
Tickets are expected to go on sale via Ticketmaster starting this Friday at 10 a.m. See the entire tour schedule on Aerosmith’s official website.
