Yes, we know inflation has bumped up the price of our dining bills, but this restaurant is taking it a little too far.
Adalina, an Italian bistro led by Michelin-starred and “Top Chef” alumni Soo Ahn, has just launched its newest cocktail, and it comes with an expensive price tag—thirteen thousand dollars to be exact (yes, our jaws hit the floor when we heard the price).
The “Marrow Martini” was created in partnership with Marrow Fine, a jewelry brand with a showroom on the ground floor at the corner of Adalina. The drink is a smoked heirloom tomato mezcal martini paired with a 9.00-carat-weight diamond tennis necklace featuring 150 diamonds in 14-karat gold.
Marrow Fine founder Jillian Sasson said:
Each time I have visited Adalina, I’m blown away by every dish but also by the palpable energy and excitement in the restaurant. The $13k Marrow martini is a fun collaboration between our brands and an extension of that excitement. And I suspect it will make for a few very memorable evenings.
If you’re wondering what’s in the actual cocktail besides the diamonds, you’ll be glad to know it’s equally as extravagant. The ingredients of the martini resemble those of the Mezcaltini, a $150 drink on the menu at Adalina. It includes Clase Azu Regional Mexcal, clarified tomato water, lemon basil olive oil, and Maldon salt.
The “Marrow Martini” is now the “most expensive” drink in the country, which makes sense since it costs the downpayment on an apartment.
As of Sept. 9, the drink was permanently on Adalina’s menu. If you have the money to order it, we say kudos to you. But also, let us know how it is. We definitely won’t be purchasing it any time soon.
