A laundromat entrance in Andersonville hides an Art Deco-inspired lounge where cocktails come with close-up magic—and you don’t need a show ticket to visit the bar.
At 5050 N. Clark St., the washing machines are your first clue that this isn’t an ordinary night out. Beyond the laundromat façade, Chicago Magic Lounge opens into a speakeasy-style bar and theater dedicated to trickery, stage performances, and Chicago’s tradition of bar magic.
What’s behind the washing machines?
Start at the Performance Bar, where magicians perform just inches away while guests sip cocktails and share small plates. The bar welcomes visitors without show tickets, so anyone can get a taste of the experience without booking a full theater performance.
For a ticketed show, head into the Harry Blackstone Cabaret. The theater hosts a mix of close-up and stage magic, with a rotating weekly lineup featuring performers from Chicago and around the world.
The venue also houses a collection of authentic vintage magic posters and ephemera—another reason to take in your surroundings between tricks.

How to visit Chicago Magic Lounge
The lounge operates seven nights a week. Check the current show calendar for performance times, ticket prices, and availability before booking; opening hours aren’t necessarily showtimes. You don’t need a show ticket to visit the Performance Bar, but entry is first-come, first-served and subject to capacity.
