Artist Yos has transformed 14 storefront windows along Clark Street into a celebration of Mexican folk art, bringing neon-hued birds, winged creatures, and intricate floral patterns to Rogers Park.
The hand-painted murals feature alebrijes—brightly colored mythical animals traditionally crafted as sculptures in Mexico. Stretching across the windows of local businesses, from pizzerias to Mexican grills, the artwork creates a colorful trail between Devon and Touhy Avenues.
A celebration of Mexican heritage on Clark Street
Commissioned to highlight the neighborhood’s heritage, the murals nod to the Mexican culture that has helped shape this stretch of Clark Street for generations. Yos spent hours painting the fantastical creatures and floral details, weaving the district’s official symbols into the designs.
“I want to bring in Clark Street this vibrant energy, and I hope you feel that,” Yos said.
For pedestrians, the result is an opportunity to turn an everyday stroll into a self-guided art walk—with imaginative creatures peeking out from storefronts along the way.
