Buc-ee’s is headed closer to Chicagoland—just across the Indiana line.
According to WTHR, Greenwood officials approved plans for Indiana’s first Buc-ee’s, an $85 million travel center with 120 fuel pumps, a 74,000-square-foot store, EV charging, and more than 175 jobs.
Indiana approves an $85 million Buc-ee’s megastore just a 3-hour trip from Chicago
Greenwood is on the south side of Indianapolis along the I-65 corridor—roughly a three-hour drive from Chicago, depending on traffic and the starting point.
For Chicagoans, the proposed Greenwood location could turn the cult-favorite Texas travel stop into a realistic interstate detour rather than a destination requiring a trip to Ohio, Tennessee, or beyond.
With 120 pumps, a massive convenience store, prepared food, EV charging, and more, Buc-ee’s is not simply another gas station. It’s designed as an all-in-one highway stop where roadtrippers can refuel, grab food, and even shop.
Buc-ee’s is expected to open for business at the end of 2028.
