The Mag Mile is set to welcome a new store—though it’s anything but new for jewelry lovers, as it is a cult-favorite Chicago brand.
On Thursday, September 3, Alexis Nido-Russo, founder of Local Eclectic, and her team will open their first-ever brick-and-mortar flagship location. This comes after 13 years as an online fashion jewelry brand.
Chicago’s beloved Local Eclectic is opening a multi-floor flagship in an 1885 mansion
The new store is located at 212 East Ontario Street, just off Michigan Avenue. The building, designed by renowned architect Edward J. Burling in 1885, has undergone a comprehensive renovation over the past two years. This restoration has not only preserved an important piece of Chicago’s architectural history but has also transformed it into the city’s latest jewelry destination.
Spanning multiple floors, visitors can look forward to unique features such as a velvet-lined jewelry box room that includes a twirling ballerina sculpture, custom murals, and artwork reminiscent of pieces found at the Smithsonian, along with newly commissioned works that reflect the building’s rich history.
When it comes to the jewelry—expect the best of the best; customers will get a personalized shopping experience, with expert staff available to guide them through a selection of jewelry from both emerging and established designers.
Later this fall, the space will also introduce Local Eclectic Café, which will offer a custom coffee blend from local roaster Metric, along with a full menu of bites.
