Prestigious dining guide La Liste has released its compilation of 1000 Best Restaurants in the World for 2025, and several familiar Chicago names made the cut.
La Liste’s Windy City culinary selections represent the cream of the crop as far as fine dining in Chicago is concerned.
At the top, with a score of 95.5, is the three-Michelin-starred Smyth. Known for its rustic take on high-end New American fare, Smyth is one of only thirteen restaurants in the nation to achieve the coveted three-star designation from Michelin.
Just below Smyth is Chicago’s other three-Michelin-starred culinary powerhouse, Alinea, with a score of 95.
Alinea’s reputation is the stuff of legend. Helmed by Chef Grant Achatz, the restaurant has garnered global praise since first opening in 2005, largely for its progressive approach to New American cuisine.
Two Fulton Market favorites made the list as well, Ever and Oriole each with a score of 92.5. Both restaurants hold two Michelin stars a piece, and boast creative tasting menus.
Boka also ranked among the best, with a score of 81. Under the direction of Chef Lee Wolen, Boka has become one of Chicago’s premier dining locales for elevated, seasonal American fare since opening in 2003.
Last but certainly not least, The Dining Room at Moody Tongue ranked with a score of 75.5. Attached the Moody Tongue brewery, the restaurant offers a multi-course tasting menu paired with its craft beers and beverages.
Exploring Chicago’s robust culinary scene is no easy task, but a reservation at any of these top local restaurants is the perfect place to start!
