March is a crowded month for Chicagoans when it comes to celebrations—Mardi Gras, Paczki Day, St. Patrick’s Day, and National Pi Day, to name a few. Now, we’re also adding another unofficial holiday that might not be as widely recognized but is quickly becoming a favorite—312 Day.
So, what exactly is 312 Day?
312 Day in Chicago is celebrated on March 12. The date combines March (3) with the 12th of the month, creating “312,” which also happens to be Chicago’s original area code. This day was established by Goose Island over a decade ago, in 2011, and has gained popularity in recent years.
To kick off 312 Day, The Wiener Circle is hosting a free event for those who want to start celebrating early. The event will begin at 3:12 p.m. on March 12 and will feature local favorites, including Chicago Bulls DJ Ca$h Era and DJ Prosperity Room.
What’s a free event at the Wiener Circle without a Chicago-style hot dog? The restaurant will offer $3.12 hot dogs and $3.12 Goose Island beers, along with specials from WYNK and tastings from Keeper’s Heart Whiskey.
